Profibus & Profinet International
In addition to the Profisafe, Profidrive, Profienergy and PA profiles, Profibus & Profinet International (PI) is expanding its technology portfolio with the profile for robot systems. The 'Profile for Robot Systems' working group is responsible for the development.

Standardization work has been underway since 2015 and the intrinsically safe physical layer designed for 2-wire cables called Ethernet-APL is now available; the first products are ready for the market.
The total number of Profibus and Profinet products installed in systems has exceeded an impressive threshold of 104 million. Profinet has reached its highest annual figure to date with 7.3 million products launched on the market.

With the IODDfinder, the IO-Link community has established a central tool for providing IODDs - the device descriptions for IO-Link devices. Now the IODDviewer opens up new possibilities.
