Inka Krischke,

Parametric System Solution

ipf introduces the VO330570, an optical distance measuring system that contactlessly detects all moving objects regardless of material or color within a range of 15 to 60 mm without slippage.

Since the incremental sensor uses infrared light in laser class 1, no special safety measures are required during installation. With a sampling rate of 0.9 ms, the sensor is particularly suitable for detecting materials in fast-running processes. The sensor is parameterized via PC software, offering units such as pulses/mm, m/min, and mm. If connected to the PC during operation, the software also calculates the travel speed of the detected object. An encoder output provides two square-wave A/B signals with a 90° phase shift, allowing the connection of a counter to display the travel distance. Additionally, a switching output can be set to a predefined distance (e.g., every 50 mm) to reset a counter or process the signal in a PLC, for example, to control automated material cutting. The second output can also be configured as an alarm output.
