After ten years of growth and a doubling of sales in plastics and rubber machinery, the turning point has been reached: the VDMA is forecasting a drop in sales of at least 10% for 2019.

The top spot among the most important German sales countries in 2018 once again belongs to China. Plastics and rubber machinery worth €853 million (up 19% ) was delivered there from Germany. Never before have so many machines been exported from Germany to a single country. In addition to exports, plastics and rubber machinery worth around half a billion euros was also manufactured locally by VDMA companies. This makes China by far the most important overall market.
