With the TWN4 Multitech 3 BLE, Elatec RFID Systems offers a reader module that supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and NFC in addition to the common RFID standards in the 125 and 134.2 kHz frequency ranges and the 13.56 MHz band. In combination with BLE, NFC enables the use of iPhones and Android smartphones for identification and wallet solutions. As a PCB with a space-saving layout, the reader module is more compact than its predecessors "TWN4 Multitech" and "TWN4 Multitech 2 BLE", according to the provider. The 50 mm x 35 mm x 7 mm module can be supplied in a customized configuration. Additional interfaces can also be implemented on request, such as CAN bus and OSDP/RS485 for industrial applications. In addition to three GPIOs and the serial interfaces I²C, SPI, RS232 and USB, the reader module supports clock/data (Omron) and Wiegand in applications such as time recording and access control. Various BLE credential systems can be integrated for cell phone applications.
