Flowave is a compact device based on SAW from Bürkert that is used for flow measurement in liquid media. The first version consists of a transmitter with or without display and a sensor with clamp process connections. The SAW technology uses wave propagation for the measurement, as in seismic activities. There are no installations or constrictions in the measuring pipe, so that the measurement takes place without any contact between the sensor elements and the medium. The inside of the pipe can be produced with the same surface quality as the rest of the pipeline and does not differ from other straight pipe sections in terms of hygiene, cleaning and flow conditions. There is no pressure drop, there are no fluid effects on the sensor elements, nor is it possible for these to affect the medium. As the sensor variants are mainly limited to nominal diameter and process connection, selecting a suitable sensor is easy. Both the transmitter and the sensor, including the measuring tube, meet the highest hygienic requirements.
