Clutches with integrated sensor technology

R+W is expanding its portfolio to include couplings and sensor technology for industrial automation.

Due to the rotating drive train, which cannot be networked directly via a cable, it is difficult to process data into useful information in drive technology. The sensor technology measures torque, speed, acceleration and, optionally, axial forces and bending moments directly from the rotating drive train. The data generated in this way is processed via the internal electronics and can be transferred either to a connected mobile device, a PC or to the machine control system. The sensor system can be integrated into already installed couplings and ensures that the measurement data is visible. According to R+W, neither additional installation space nor auxiliary constructions are required for the installation. Data transmission means that maintenance work can be carried out at an early stage and downtimes can be reduced.
