Cisco / IBM
Together against cybercrime
Two major players in the IT security market - Cisco and IBM - intend to improve the efficiency of IT security for their customers through technology integration, combined services and collaboration on threat intelligence.
The combination of Cisco's best-of-breed security offerings and the architectural approach integrated with IBM's Cognitive Security Operations Platform is designed to help customers more effectively secure their organizations from the network to the cloud endpoint. As part of the collaboration, Cisco will deliver new applications for IBM's QRadar Security Analytics Platform. The first two new applications are designed to help security teams better understand and respond to advanced threats. They will become available on the IBM Security App Exchange and are designed to help identify and remediate incidents more effectively when working with Cisco's Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), Next Generation Intrusion Protection System (NGIPS) and Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) and Threat Grid.
In addition, the IBM Resilient Incident Response Platform (IRP) will be integrated with Cisco Threat Grid to provide security teams with deeper insights. For example, analysts can look up incident indicators in the IRP or investigate suspicious malware with sandbox technology.
"The new collaboration between Cisco and IBM in the area of cybersecurity underlines the need to create cross-vendor, end-to-end integrated security solutions - instead of isolated solutions that address individual problems but do not support an end-to-end IT security concept," says Christian Nern, Head of Security Software Sales at IBM.
