Staggered protective field heights

With the Detec4 Prime safety light curtain, Sick is rounding off the 'Detec4 Core' family at the top. The light curtain combines features of existing variants in one device and adds new functionalities.

Overall, the safety light curtains meet performance level 'e' in accordance with EN ISO 13849 and SIL3 in accordance with IEC 61508. 13 different protective field heights from 300 to 2100 mm can be achieved in 150 mm increments. If machines are positioned close together, DIP switches can be used to reduce mutual optical interference by means of beam coding. The option of cascading a maximum of three systems for rear step protection reduces the wiring effort and saves on safety inputs in the control cabinet. The local reset function also saves wiring work and programming in the control system. A T-connector with just one cable to the control cabinet and status display on the S/E minimizes machine downtimes. Four system connectors are available for configuring the desired functions of the light curtain; configuration is carried out without software. The exact adjustment of the range during commissioning is carried out automatically by the light curtain itself. With the 'Detec4 Prime', the integrated alignment display with four LEDs ensures reliable positioning of the transmitter and receiver in relation to each other, as well as automatic calibration of the range up to 24 m with 30 mm resolution. IP65 and IP67 protection and an operating temperature range between -30 and +55 °C allow the safety light curtain to be used even in demanding environments.
