Industrial Cybersecurity Test Center accredited as a test laboratory

The Sick Industrial Cybersecurity Test Center (SICST) in Waldkirch has been officially accredited by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) for the IEC 62443-4-2 standard. This makes Sick the first and, according to the DAkkS website, currently the only German manufacturer with an accredited test laboratory that can carry out conformity assessments with regard to the IT security of industrial automation systems in accordance with this standard.

The accreditation certificate D-PL-20745-04-00 certifies that SICST at the company headquarters in Waldkirch fulfills the requirements of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 as a testing laboratory. This means that it can independently carry out recognized conformity assessment activities with regard to digital security for industrial automation systems and issue test reports with the aim of seeking full product certification from an accredited certification body. The tests at SICST are based on the cybersecurity standard IEC 62443-4-2:2019 Security for industrial automation and control systems - Part 4-2 "Technical security requirements for IACS components". The SICST 62443-4-2, V1.337, (2024-08) test method for industrial control systems developed and accredited by Sick is used. It was also successfully verified with accredited test laboratories in a round robin test - a method of external quality assurance for measurement procedures and measurement and test laboratories - in accordance with IEC 62443-4-2.

The series of standards also forms the basis for the development of cybersecurity-related products.
