Security through network segments

The small firewall isolates potentially vulnerable or untrustworthy devices and machines in their own network segments. These include IoT devices and smart home assistants, for example, but also CNC milling machines or old control computers. Each functional unit is assigned its own network segment - a secure island. The data traffic permitted with this segment is restricted to cases that are absolutely necessary for operation. For example, if a milling machine receives production data via the 'TCP port 9000', the 'Microwall' only allows connections via this port. If an attacker now attempts to exploit a vulnerability in another service, the 'Microwall' prevents the connection from being established and logs it. Devices located on the same island, however, can continue to communicate with each other unhindered. The 'Microwall' is a 2-port firewall router. It is configured via a web-based user interface. Once set up, the configuration interface can be permanently deactivated so that physical access to the device is required for reconfiguration.
