The importance of cybersecurity measures continues to grow, particularly in the context of the increasing integration of operational and information technology. Despite all the advantages that modern process control systems, software-centric automation or the connection of operating technology to IT systems bring: Cybersecurity is and remains a crucial condition for the implementation of digital IoT networking. For this reason, Schneider Electric and BitSight, a US provider of cybersecurity solutions, have formed a strategic partnership. The aim is to develop a set of tools to identify and defend against IT-based attacks on operational technology (OT). The aim is to enable proactive security monitoring of OT and control systems in industrial production environments.

While the tech group, which has around 4,700 employees in Germany, will contribute its expertise in industrial automation solutions to the joint solution development, BitSight will provide its comprehensive know-how in the identification and management of cyber security risks. The development activities planned as part of the strategic partnership are not limited to BitSight and Schneider Electric. Other OT technology providers willing to share information about their components are also invited to participate in the jointly pursued project.

"We are very excited to partner with Schneider Electric," said Stephen Boyer, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at BitSight. For him, the minimization of cyber risks in the area of networked OT systems is of crucial importance for the further development of digital transformation. "Like Schneider Electric, we at BitSight are committed to building trust in the digital economy by improving cyber security. OT systems in particular are still often unprotected and vulnerable to attacks. And this is exactly what we want to address through our partnership with Schneider Electric."

"Based on the data and insights provided by BitSight, we at Schneider Electric are able to implement intelligent cybersecurity management for our customers," explains Christophe Blassiau, Senior Vice President and Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Schneider Electric, who is responsible for cybersecurity. "This allows us to greatly optimize the resilience of OT systems connected to the Internet. It also strengthens trust in IoT-based technologies."
