Microchip has received IEC 62443-4-1 ML2 certification for industrial automation and control systems from UL Solutions. It proves that the development process for new products complies with the international "Secure-by-Design" standards.

IEC 62443-4-1 defines requirements for a secure development lifecycle (SDL), including threat modeling, secure design practices, implementation controls, verification and validation, and long-term defect and patch management. UL Solutions confirmed that Microchip consistently applies these security practices in hardware, software and global development and manufacturing centers.

Nuri Dagdeviren, Corporate Vice President of the Secure Computing Group at Microchip, explains: "The IEC 62443-4-1 ML2 certification underscores our long-standing commitment to rigorous security practices. Customers need partners who demonstrate competent secure development, not just claim it. This independently validated certification builds trust, reduces risk across the entire hardware firmware stack and helps our customers comply with the CRA and other standards."

The certification facilitates cyber security assessments for customers, reduces supply chain risks and supports preparation for regulatory requirements such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
