No special controller is required to function as a safe slave, as the solution is based on FSoE in addition to Codesys - so the safe Ethercat IO module can be used on any FSoE master. The solution is rounded off by the decentralized SIL3 safety controller FIO Safety PLC in accordance with IEC 61508. The configuration and programming are created with Codesys and transferred via Ethercat/ FSoE. Codesys provides safety modules such as emergency stop, two-hand operation and muting according to PLCopen. Users can also develop customized function blocks for their applications. According to the provider, this means that all FSoE slaves such as drives or I/Os can be safely controlled and continuously monitored.
