Electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics, kinetics, chemistry or thermals - energy in any form can be dangerous if it is released unintentionally or in an uncontrolled manner. So-called Lockout Tagout (LoTo) procedures, such as those already prescribed in the USA, can help to control these dangers. Andreas Schott from Pilz explained what this actually means and why the topic of LoTo is also relevant for safety managers in this country.
