Data securityNews from the security sector
Cyber security will be far more important in industry in the future than it has been in the past. Computer&AUTOMATION has compiled a series of images showing which hardware and software solutions companies can use to protect themselves against unauthorized access.

The industrial Fast Ethernet entry-level switches of the RED25 family from Belden with redundancy functionality were developed for automation applications in which cost-efficient and highly available redundant network solutions are required. In addition to various redundancy methods, the switches support various security functions that protect against network attacks and operating errors. Furthermore, the ports and other features of the switches, such as the temperature range, can be adapted to different requirements. The switches offer uninterrupted data communication based on the Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) and High Availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR). Thanks to other redundancy methods such as RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol), DLR (Device Level Ring) and MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol), the switches can be integrated into existing networks. They are also designed for high ambient temperatures and meet the requirements for precise time synchronization. The switches are based on the 'HiOS' operating system (Hirschmann Operating System) and are available in two four-port versions: with four Fast Ethernet TX ports or with two Fast Ethernet TX ports and two Fast Ethernet SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) ports.
