Trend Micro presents the generative AI tool "Trend Companion". It is designed to help IT security analysts optimize their workflows and, according to the provider, can significantly reduce the time required for manual risk assessments and threat investigations.

Kevin Simzer, COO at Trend Micro: "Overburdened security teams are struggling with the sheer volume and complexity of threat data. Trend Companion is our answer: an innovative, generative AI tool that reduces complexity and accelerates security operations."

According to analysts, generative AI will be integrated into all major security products in the future. Jon Oltsik, Analyst and Fellow at TechTarget's Enterprise Strategy Group, explains that Trend Companion has the potential to bridge the gap between SecOps knowledge and execution: "Companion can help cybersecurity teams gain better insights, accelerate threat detection and response, and strengthen their defensive capabilities. I look forward to the future benefits this technology will have for security professionals now and in the future, as well as the positive impact it will have in addressing the skills shortage across the industry."

With the help of AI, SecOps analysts - regardless of their level of knowledge - can reduce the average time to understand the event and make faster and better-informed decisions.

An easy-to-understand user interface in natural language
- Explains and contextualizes alerts,
- reviews response actions and provides personalized recommendations,
- Decodes and explains complex scripts and command lines.
- supports analysts in the development and execution of sophisticated threat hunting queries.
- helps incident responders develop OSQuery queries in the IR and Forensics module.

The threat alerts in Trend Vision One are model-driven to adapt to the ever-changing threat landscape. However, AI alone is not enough to keep security teams working at peak efficiency. The data on which the AI is built is crucial. This is where the solution benefits from Trend Micro 's global threat research teams and the Zero Day Initiative, the world's largest vendor-independent bug bounty program.

The combination of adaptive, model-driven threat alerts in Trend Vision One and Trend Companion's GenAI capabilities can reduce incident response time by 30 percent. This can reduce the time it takes to generate reports by up to two hours per report and enable more complete overall containment of attacks. In this way, Companion helps to proactively minimize the likelihood of a breach occurring.
