Keyword HRC - a topic that was omnipresent at the trade fair. Here, for example, is every DIY enthusiast's dream: a robot that can handle a drill and hold a vacuum cleaner at the same time! The serious background to the German Aerospace Center's (DLR) trade fair demo at Automatica 2016: in order to be able to work even more effectively with machines in the future, it is necessary for robots to have similar capabilities to humans. This is being tested at DLR using the robot 'David'. 'David' is an anthropomorphic robot with drives that are equipped with a passive, variable spring stiffness. The focus of the development is on robustness, high dynamics and dexterity. Visitors to the trade fair were able to see its capabilities for themselves.
