Bionics / ResearchFlying robots - as agile as a fruit fly
The flying robot developed by researchers at Delft University of Technology can perform complex flight maneuvers based on the model of the fruit fly. Based on this, more maneuverable drones should become feasible - also in terms of price.

... of the robot is the control system: a controller processes the data from several sensors. From this, it calculates how the four wings must flap in order to make the complicated yet stable flight maneuvers possible. The wings move up to 17 times a second, sometimes in opposite directions. They are powered by two electric motors. The integrated battery is sufficient for a flight duration of five minutes, during which the robot can cover a distance of around 1 km.
