CNC integration makes the robot part of the machine and opens up application scenarios ranging from dynamic workpiece or tool handling to combined CNC robot machining, such as plasma cutting of steel tubes or profiles. Robot axes are treated as additional CNC axes by the robot controller. The translation or transformation into robot coordinates is performed by the NC kernel. This means that users can continue to program their CNC robot hybrid machine as usual with 'G-code' or in accordance with DIN 66025 without any knowledge of robot programming and follow the familiar CAD/CAM-CNC workflow. Classic CNC features such as tool length and radius compensation or technology-specific compensations are also implemented by robot kinematics. This eliminates the need for time-consuming robot teach-in and learning a robot programming language. The robot controller controls up to 32 CNC and/or robot axes. Up to 64 motion axes can be operated and monitored with the multi-axis controller. PLCopen function blocks can also be used to program complex motion functions in accordance with IEC 61131. CNC and motion axes can be combined as required and can even be superimposed at runtime.
