AI-supported robot solutions for industrial automation

The Stuttgart-based AI robotics company Sereact and AWL are entering into a strategic partnership. The aim is to integrate Sereact's AI model into AWL's robotics solutions in order to offer highly flexible, self-learning automation systems for the intralogistics industry.

AWL is a global provider of robotics and automation solutions with over 4000 integrated robots. Sereact focuses on AI-powered software for autonomous pick-and-place, which enables robots to adapt flexibly to changing conditions. By combining experience in mechanical engineering and the integration of robots with AI-supported software, AWL and Sereact open up new possibilities for flexible automation.

Conventional systems reach their limits, especially in dynamic production environments. "We combine AWL's 30 years of hardware and robot integration expertise with our AI software. The result is solutions that enable companies to make their intralogistics processes more efficient and scalable," explains Ralf Gulde, Co-Founder and CEO of Sereact.

In modern production and logistics centers, traditional automation systems are often inflexible: they require long training times and cannot react spontaneously to changing requirements. This is precisely where the 'Sereact AI Model' comes in. "Our customers need robots that adapt dynamically to new situations - and this is exactly what the integration of Sereact AI into our solutions makes possible," says Arjen Vos, Director Strategy & Development at AWL. This technology is driven by the latest AI advancements, enables multilingual interactions and introduces a new level of engagement between operators and technology.

The Sereact AI can also handle complex or changing tasks - for example, when products have varying dimensions or sensitive materials are present. "We were impressed by the zero-shot performance of the Sereact AI model. We can use it to handle items without prior training, which increases throughput and reduces error rates," explains Vos. The initial focus is on item picking processes.

Joint projects in preparation

The first applications of the joint solution are already in the pilot phase with selected customers. In the long term, global deployment is planned, as AWL has sites in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, China, Mexico, the USA and the UK. "From the outset, we have been geared towards using our robot systems in a wide variety of environments and industries," says Gulde. "With AWL as a partner, we can transfer AI-supported robotics into real applications more quickly and offer companies worldwide new automation possibilities."

Sereact was founded by Ralf Gulde (CEO) and Marc Tuscher (CTO). The Stuttgart-based total solution provider develops AI-supported robotics solutions that are used in various industries and application areas by customers in Europe and the USA. The AI software gives robots visual and motor skills, enabling them to perceive their environment and develop intelligent strategies to perform a variety of physical tasks.

AWL is a robotic system integrator with over 30 years of experience in the automotive and metalworking industries, supplying sophisticated welding, assembly and material handling machines. AWL entered the intralogistics market in 2019. The privately owned company employs over 800 people worldwide.
