In the course of Industry 4.0, remote control - i.e. remote access to machines and systems - and the topic of M2M communication in general are becoming increasingly important. The picture gallery shows a selection of current products in this area.
Schneider Electric is expanding its range of HMI solutions to include cloud applications for secure remote maintenance and programming of industrial machines. System integrators, plant manufacturers and OEMs will be able to use the new software solutions to access remote PLC controllers, operating panels or other devices connected to the network from any location. The cloud applications are available for two product ranges: Vijeo Connect can be used with all HMIs from the Magelis GTU and GTO series as well as Magelis industrial PCs. In contrast, Pro-face Connect by Schneider Electric is integrated as standard in all Pro-face operating panels in the IPC PS5000, HMI SP5000 and GP4000 series. No additional network or firewall configuration is required to activate remote access. Remote access to the machine takes place via a secure X.509-based VPN connection. A three-stage communication model consisting of gate, link and site manager is intended to ensure a high level of security. Personalized access control is also possible. In addition, all access is documented and thus remains traceable. A 30-day trial version is available to interested parties.
