Microsoft's new Windows 10 operating system has been on the market since the middle of last year and is conquering German companies. 66% of the companies surveyed have now familiarized themselves extensively with the new Windows version. 34% have already switched to Windows 10. Compared to the previous versions, Windows 10 got off to an above-average start among German user companies. The market share of Windows 8 was only 6% nine months after its market launch in 2012.

Over 40% of those surveyed want to switch to Windows 10 this year. The option of a free version upgrade until the end of July 2016 has accelerated the migration, according to every second company. A relevant advantage for companies is that they do not have to purchase new hardware at the same time as Windows 10. Four out of five respondents stated that it is important to them that Windows 10 also runs on their older hardware.

More than 40% of companies are planning to migrate this year. This was the result of a broad survey of 350 German companies conducted by analyst firm techconsult.

An initial interim assessment shows that 83% of Windows 10 users are satisfied or very satisfied with the new operating system version. 85% appreciate the good software compatibility. Their previously used applications also run smoothly under the new operating system. Security settings and cross-device working are also welcomed, as are the quick installation, low training requirements and automatic updates. 70% of Windows 10 users have opted for immediate and automatic installation of updates.
