SmartFactory-KL at the Hannover Messe
The industrial circular economy
At the Hannover Messe, SmartFactory-KL will be demonstrating how components can be fed back into the value chain.
Part of the circular economy is to reuse used parts and components. Not every component in a complex product is equally stressed or shows signs of wear that limit its further use. This is where the Re-Use Use Case of SmartFactory Kaiserslautern (SF-KL) comes in. The continued use of used components helps to conserve resources, avoidCO2 and therefore reduce costs. "The idea itself is not new," says Teresa Petzsche, Deputy Project Manager of the Green AI Hub Mittelstand, "but we are using it in an industrial context with the support of AI. This will be very important in the future." The SKYE production island is part of Shared Production Kaiserslautern. With the help of AI, it evaluates used components of the model truck that is being produced as a sample product at the trade fair. Each recyclable component has a Digital Product Passport (DPP), which is implemented as an administration shell. This allows products to be made visible in the data room. Among other things, the DPP contains information about the current condition of the component, its usage history andCO2 footprint. At the SmartFactory-KL stand, visitors can configure and order their own model truck. They can specify whether used components can also be installed. The production island participates in the data room as a supplier of used components. All products can be identified and addressed via administration shells. SKYE is intended to show how a quality check and the self-description of the product based on the asset administration shell can be used to decide whether reuse is possible and how the component can once again become part of a new value chain.
