For years, Deutsche Messe has been pursuing a strategy of taking its domestic trade fair brands abroad. It currently organizes around 60 events abroad every year. The majority of these are in the industrial trade fair segment with topics such as industrial robots, factory automation, energy technologies and industrial supply. From September 2018, Deutsche Messe will use the brand name 'Hannover Messe' to bring its industrial trade fairs in the USA under one roof. Around 550 exhibitors are expected at the first 'Hannover Messe USA', which will take place in Chicago from September 10 to 15, 2018. By comparison, more than 5,000 exhibitors and around 200,000 visitors are expected at the German counterpart in 2018.

Deutsche Messe has been active in the American market for many years and has been organizing trade fairs in Chicago since 2012. "Not least the partner country USA and the visit of the then US President Barack Obama to Hannover have further boosted the reputation and awareness of the 'Hannover Messe' brand in the USA. By introducing the brand to the American trade fair market, we expect to attract more exhibitors and visitors to the event in Chicago, as well as a positive effect for Hannover Messe itself," says Köckler, Chairman and CEO of Deutsche Messe.
