Obama opens the Hannover Messe 2016

The USA is the partner country of the Hannover Messe this year - and the organizers are therefore expecting a high-ranking visitor from there: US President Barack Obama will open the industrial trade fair together with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

President Obama will appear during the official opening event of the trade fair on Sunday, April 24. Chancellor Merkel's traditional tour of the trade fair is then scheduled for Monday morning.

The main theme of this year's Hannover Messe, like the main themes of the past three years, has to do with Industry 4.0 - in Hannover Messe jargon, "Integrated Industry". It is "Integrated Industry - Discover Solutions". The organizer, Deutsche Messe AG, is expecting around 5,000 industrial companies from 70 countries to attend Hannover Messe. The exhibition will focus on production and energy technologies. Visitors will learn how they can transform their production facilities step by step into smart factories in the digital age. Visitors from the energy industry will find technical solutions for the intelligent and networked generation, distribution and storage of energy.

"MobiliTec" trade fair no longer taking place in 2016

In addition, Deutsche Messe AG has streamlined the range of trade fairs at Hannover Messe: This time, the trade fairs "Industrial Automation", "Digital Factory", "Energy", "Industrial Supply" and "Research & Technology" will be included. "MobiliTec" has been dropped, and the biennial trade fairs "Motion, Drives and Automation", "Wind", "ComVac" and "SurfaceTechnology" will also not be represented.

The USA is partner country of the Hannover Messe for the first time. Around 250 companies from the world's largest economy will be presenting their solutions for the networked industry at the Hannover Exhibition Center and making contacts with potential business partners from all over the world.

"Obama's commitment is a great signal for the international appeal of Hannover Messe," said Dr. Jochen Köckler, Member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Messe AG. "And the timing is perfect: In the course of its re-industrialization, the USA has developed into a highly attractive business partner for industry and is now the number one export market for German mechanical and plant engineering, for example."

Hannover Messe 2016 will take place from April 25 to 29, 2016.
