Siemens has announced its figures for the first quarter of 2019. While incoming orders set a new record, profits halved. The 'Digital Factory' and 'Process Industries and Drives' divisions recorded some of the strongest sales growth.

With an order intake of €25.2 billion, Siemens achieved its highest absolute figure in over ten years in the first quarter. The order backlog of 137 billion euros is a historic record, which - according to Kaeser - "should still be worth a lot in times of a potential economic downturn". Adjusted EBITA for the industrial business, on the other hand, fell, as did earnings per share (EPS).
