Assembly and handling technologyNew products for Motek 2018
What is currently happening on the market in the fields of material flow, handling technology and industrial handling? Computer&AUTOMATION has summarized an excerpt of what exhibitors are showing at Motek 2018 in Stuttgart in a picture gallery.

Faulhaber has launched a new series of motion controllers with redundant safety shutdown based on the STO (Safe Torque Off) principle. This immediately interrupts the power supply to the motor so that it can no longer generate torque. The devices in the MC 5004 P STO series are therefore certified for operation up to safety integrity level SIL3 (IEC 61800-5-2) and performance level PL e (EN ISO 13849-1). With their communication capability, the devices meet the requirements of networked processes. They are available with USB, RS232, CANopen and EtherCAT interfaces. This means they are capable of real-time communication with the higher-level process control technology and, according to the manufacturer, offer flexibility in terms of possible applications. The motion controllers with up to 50 V supply voltage and up to 12 A peak current can be used in all safety-relevant applications in machines and robots in combination with high-performance motors from Faulhaber. The devices do not require an external safety relay for interrupting the motor supply, which makes wiring simple and cost-effective. An equally certified motherboard, a universal connector concept and an extensive selection of cable accessories are designed to simplify the electrical connection.
