ABB/B&R
Hans Wimmer leaves B&R
Managing Director Hans Wimmer is leaving B&R at the end of the year. ABB announced this news on November 25, 2020. The search process for a new Division President will be initiated.
Hans Wimmer has been managing director of B&R for the past 16 years and has been with the company for a total of 34 years. Even after the takeover of B&R by ABB on July 6, 2017, Wimmer always stood up for the independence of the Machine Automation division (B&R) within the ABB Group.
As of January 1, 2021, Clemens Sager will assume the role of Interim President of the division. Sager has held various senior finance roles at ABB since 2006, including CFO of the Turbocharging division. He has been CFO of the Machine Automation division (B&R) since 2017. He will continue to serve in this role.
According to ABB, B&R will continue to invest in solid growth and act independently as a division. The Austrian site will continue to play a key role in the further development of B&R. The expansion of the headquarters in Eggelsberg to include an Automation Campus will be completed as planned in 2021.
