Global sales increased by 28 percent

Beckhoff Automation continues its growth trajectory in the 2022 financial year: With an increase of 28%, the automation specialist achieved a new record turnover of 1.515 billion euros.

Beckhoff achieved total sales growth of 64% in the last two years 2021 and 2022.

"The past financial year was challenging in some areas due to global conditions. However, we can look back on a successful year and achieve growth of 28% for a second year in a row," says Hans Beckhoff, founder and managing owner of the family-owned company, adding: "We have achieved average annual growth of 15% since 2000, but the 64% of the last two years 2021 and 2022 are also exceptional for us!"

Beckhoff wants to continue to grow. To this end, the automation technology specialist is continuing to invest 80 million euros annually in its research and development activities.

Beckhoff also expects good double-digit growth in the current year 2023, secured by a high order backlog. However, there is currently a significant decline in order intake worldwide, which is largely caused by a technical response to reduced delivery times and only to a small extent by a slight economic slowdown.

The past two years were characterized by serious supply bottlenecks in the area of semiconductor products, which are an essential component of all Beckhoff products. This led to extremely long delivery times at Beckhoff and in the automation industry as a whole. However, Hans Beckhoff sees an increasing easing of the situation: "By the end of the year at the latest, we will be able to confirm to our customers that delivery times are largely back to normal."

The employee situation

The company currently employs 5,680 people worldwide, more than 2,200 of whom have an engineering qualification. The company currently employs a total of almost 200 apprentices and students. In order to meet the demand for well-trained specialists, Beckhoff trains young people in many different professions.
