German electrical industry in figures

Over 1.5 million employees worldwide, high innovative strength and top value creation: the electrical industry is one of the most important pillars of the German economy. The ZVEI has compared it with other sectors at a national level.

Major trends such as IoT, Industry 4.0 and autonomous driving rely on technically advanced electronics that have to be produced economically in enormous quantities.

The global market for electronics is growing steadily. According to ZVEI figures, slightly more than 4 trillion euros were generated with electronics and electrical engineering in 2015 -

a record figure. And for the sixth year in a row.

The ZVEI has compiled an industry comparison to show how the electrical industry compares to the other major sectors of the German manufacturing industry. It shows that electrical companies are not only top in terms of innovation intensity, but also in terms of value creation.
