Over 1.5 million employees worldwide, high innovative strength and top value creation: the electrical industry is one of the most important pillars of the German economy. The ZVEI has compared it with other sectors at a national level.

German companies in the electrical industry employed around 847,000 people in Germany in 2016. This puts it ahead of the automotive industry, but well behind mechanical engineering. Outside of Germany, a further 704,000 people were employed.
