"There is a spirit of optimism in the halls of Hannover Messe," said Dr. Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe, at the closing press conference of Hannover Messe 2023. "The high expectations of the exhibiting companies and visitors were exceeded." More than 4,000 exhibitors presented their solutions for a digital, networked and sustainable industry and met 130,000 visitors from all over the world in Hanover. 43% of visitors came from abroad to find out how they can make their production fit for the future. The top visitor countries after Germany were the Netherlands, China, Korea, Poland and the USA.

ZVEI President and Chairman of the Hannover Messe Exhibitors' Advisory Board Dr Gunther Kegel drew the following conclusion from the exhibiting companies' perspective: "Electrification, digitalization and automation: these three trends have left their mark on this year's Hannover Messe and are leading to solutions for effective climate protection, for example. The interplay of these trends also shows that the energy transition must also be an energy efficiency transition. The trade fair confirms our optimism for the electrical and digital industry and our forecast increase to 1 to 2 percent real production growth for this year. At the beginning of the year, we were still only expecting a sideways movement at a high level. Our industry is on the upswing."

"Climate protection and sustainability are now at the top of the industry's agenda around the world. To achieve the goal of climate neutrality, we need new, intelligent technologies and solutions for resource-saving and efficient production across all areas of life," said Thilo Brodtmann, Managing Director of the VDMA. "Especially here at the Hannover Messe, we have sensed the great interest of customers in the solutions provided by the mechanical and plant engineering industry. That's why this year's trade fair was a complete success for our industry and an important sign that the major challenges of our time can be solved with intelligent and networked production."

In addition to the 130,000 visitors to the exhibition grounds, the trade fair counted a further 15,000 registered visitors who took part in the event digitally. They followed the conference program, informed themselves in digital product presentations and took part in hybrid visitor tours.

The next Hannover Messe will take place from April 22 to 26, 2024.
