Six times as many write accesses
Cactus Technologies presents its 245S memory series, which is based on the new pSLC (Pseudo Single Level Cell) technology. This combines the advantages of SLC (Single Level Cell) memory with the attractive price/performance ratio of MLC (Multi Level Cell) memory.
With pSLC flash memory, MLC NAND cells are written with just one bit, like an SLC flash cell, instead of the usual two bits. According to the manufacturer, pSLC technology makes MLC flash faster and more durable. The number of write accesses per flash cell is significantly increased by pSLC technology. With 20,000 cycles, the Cactus 245S Series memory achieves six times more write accesses than comparable MLC memory. The new pSLC memories are available from the official distributor Syslogic. The range initially includes the SD Card, CFast and M.2 form factors.
The pSLC memories also have an error correction code (ECC) and defect management. This is designed to automatically detect and correct data errors, which ensures a high level of functional reliability of the solid-state drives.
