embedded world 2016
Safety & security at a glance
The embedded world Exhibition&Conference will take place for the 14th time in Nuremberg from February 23 to 25, 2016. A new special area will focus on the topic of safety & security for embedded systems.
The prospects for the world's largest event on embedded system technology are record-breaking: according to Benedikt Weyerer, Event Director of embedded world at NürnbergMesse, the exhibition space had already exceeded the final figure for 2015 by the end of January. The same applies to the number of exhibitors, which stood at 902 last year.
New: 'safety&security Area'
The conference, which takes place parallel to the trade fair, offers presentations and practical workshops. In addition to topics such as IoT, software & systems engineering, hardware engineering, embedded OS and management focus, the security and safety of embedded systems will play a central role, which is also reflected in this year's keynote speech. Here, Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky Labs, will demonstrate how IT security aspects are becoming increasingly relevant in the IoT in view of the growing merging of the IT and embedded worlds.
The 'safety&security area' in Hall 4 A will also be dedicated to this topic for the first time at the trade fair, focusing on topics such as security for hardware and software (safety), protection against external attacks and protection against piracy (security). "The area is already very well booked for the premiere. This shows how important safety & security is today," says Weyerer.
Record participation in M2M area
M2M and the IoT in connection with embedded system technologies - these are the central topics of the M2M area, which continues to grow. With around 60 exhibiting companies, the special area in Hall 5 is already fully booked. "Despite the increase in space, we are fully booked again this year. This proves how important this topic is. M2M is one of the topics of the future, especially in connection with the Internet of Things," says Weyerer. The portfolio includes: Remote maintenance, tracking & tracing, e-payment, e-mobility and facility management as well as M2M for mechanical and plant engineering. The topic also plays an important role at the conference: on all three conference days, sessions on connectivity, wireless technologies and the Internet of Things will provide information and suggestions for efficient communication between IoT participants.
In Hall 1, around 60 exhibitors will be showcasing the latest trends in LCD, OLED, PDP, LED and ePaper in the electronic displays area. Flexible displays, human-machine interfaces, graphical user interfaces, touchscreens and 3D displays round off the product range. Here, too, the topics are reflected in the accompanying electronic displays Conference.
The Student Day 2016
For the seventh time, the special Student Day program is aimed at university students from embedded-relevant degree courses. On the last day of the trade fair, they will be transported free of charge by bus from their respective university locations to Nuremberg. Prof. Dr. Radermacher from the University of Ulm will prepare the students for professional life with his presentation on the global responsibility of embedded system developers in an increasingly networked world and the Internet of Things. Afterwards, selected companies will be waiting for the students in a foyer exhibition to talk to the young talents. The visit to the trade fair planned for the afternoon is also free of charge for students.
