The new board features an Arm Cortex-A76 quad-core CPU (2.4 GHz, 64-bit) with 512 kB L2 cache and 2 MB shared L3 cache, as well as integrated dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 connectivity. The RP1 I/O controller chip, developed directly at Raspberry Pi, offers a significant improvement in interface performance. These improvements enable a greatly expanded range of applications, says Farnell.

There are also a number of new accessories for the Raspberry Pi 5, including a case with an integrated variable speed fan. If you want to use the Raspberry Pi 5 under high load without a housing, an active cooler offers an alternative cooling solution. A new USB-C PD power supply (27 W) delivers up to 5 A current at 5.1 V, so that the Raspberry Pi 5 can also supply peripheral devices with power.
