The new 2.5-inch cards in the 250SH series from Cactus Technologies have a SATA III interface and are available in capacities of up to 8 TByte. The memory cards are based on A-grade memory cells with 16 nm technology. These MLC memory cells (2bit/cell) are processed into memory modules in order to achieve the high storage capacity of 2, 4 or 8 TByte. The flash memories are designed to meet the high industry requirements in terms of endurance (service life of storage media) and retention (service life of stored data). According to the manufacturer, they are insensitive to shock and vibration and are suitable for use at temperatures from 0 to +70 °C. They are even optionally available for the extended temperature range of -40 to +85 °C. The manufacturer addresses typical areas of application wherever large amounts of data are generated - for example in digital signage, big data or video surveillance. The Cactus memory has security features that are integrated into the flash controller and firmware. These include error correction code, garbage collection, wear leveling and write-abort handling. In Germany, Cactus Technologies' flash memories are distributed by Syslogic.
