Sometimes doctors have to measure a patient's skull precisely, for example for surgical procedures on the jaw. For this purpose, they take X-ray images of the head. In the past, these images were usually analyzed manually. Nowadays, this work step is increasingly being carried out automatically by computer. To further simplify the analysis of X-ray images, Constantin Tilman Schott has developed innovative software that uses AI to identify an important reference point on the base of the skull - the sella turcica. His program uses self-learning algorithms to do this. If it is provided with sufficient data, it can calculate the sella point with a high degree of accuracy, on average to within half a millimeter.
