How will digitalization, robotics and artificial intelligence change people's everyday lives? How and what will the next generation work on? The new round of the 'Invent a Chip' school competition organized by the BMBF and the VDE is looking into these questions.

Third place and prize money of 1,000 euros went to Alexander Zimmer (18), Julian Liphardt (18) and Philipp Deuster (18) from the Schloss Hansenberg boarding school in Geisenheim. They impressed the experts with an intelligent car door that recognizes obstacles and dangers. "The door opens and closes independently, but also works via an automatic braking mechanism," explains the team.
