The wireless gateways of the TCG20 series are now set to complement the cloud offering that Turck presented in the summer. The gateways can be used to integrate machines and systems, as well as measuring points at remote locations, into automation networks. Three variants are available on the wireless side: with UMTS, with dual-band WLAN and with UMTS and WLAN simultaneously. In terms of automation infrastructure, the network and protocol diversity is even greater: the gateways have a serial RS232/RS485 port, a CAN port and up to five Ethernet ports. In addition to CANopen, the devices also support Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU as master and slave, OPC UA as client and server and Codesys network variables.

The gateways can be configured online via the integrated web server using graphically clear menus, even without programming knowledge, and a web-based EDGE PLC editor handles simple control tasks as well as the pre-processing of data for cyclical or event-controlled data transmission. This keeps mobile radio costs manageable in UMTS operation.

As part of a technology buyout, Turck acquired the cloud software from IoT specialist Beck IPC at the beginning of the year. The software solution forms the basis for the development of Turck's own industrial cloud solutions. The gateway - a branded Beck IPC device - fits seamlessly into this system landscape.
