VDMA
Ukraine and Russia information portal online
The VDMA has put a service page online that provides information on current developments relating to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. It also lists important points of contact and contact persons.
The VDMA condemns the acts of war by the Russian army in the strongest possible terms and supports the decision to sanction this aggression severely. In order to inform members and companies in general, the association has put an information portal online. On this service page, the VDMA provides important information and documents and names points of contact. The information is updated on an ongoing basis.
VDMA Managing Director Thilo Brodtmann comments on the current sanctions in the context of the war in Ukraine:
"First and foremost is concern for the well-being of the people in Ukraine. This also gives rise to the challenge of contributing to an end to the violence with effective and consistent sanctions.
The sanctions imposed by the European Union in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in violation of international law mean a fundamental reassessment of economic and trade relations with Russia in light of Vladimir Putin's systematic aggression. The new bans on the supply of various goods to Russia affect large parts of the European mechanical and plant engineering industry. They affect exports worth several hundred million euros.
The conditions of the sanctions and their effects now need to be analyzed in detail.
Counter-sanctions from the Russian side are also possible, but it remains right to sanction the aggression against Ukraine severely. Russian manufacturers play a largely subordinate role in the technology and capital goods sector."
