Siemens cooperates with Hilscher
Siemens is cooperating with Hilscher to integrate Hilscher's cifX PC card technology into Siemens' Simatic IPCs. This gives customers flexible access to all relevant fieldbus and real-time Ethernet systems.
By integrating Hilscher 's cifX PC card technology into Siemens ' Simatic IPCs, the two companies are giving customers flexible access to all relevant fieldbus and real-time Ethernet systems - the technology for communication between devices and data exchange between machines and systems in the existing, highly heterogeneous IoT world.
PC cards in M.2 format from Hilscher's cifX PC card family can be integrated into the Simatic IPC from Siemens via plug-and-play and activation. The netX network controller from Hilscher then enables the integration of 19 different fieldbuses and real-time Ethernet protocols into the M.2 PC card.
Users benefit from standardized device drivers, a configuration tool and a consistent API for all protocols. With this scalable platform, they can integrate the following automation protocols:
- Profibus-DP
- CANopen
- DeviceNet
- Profinet-IO
- Powerlink (devices only)
- EtherCAT
- SERCOS
- EtherNet/IP
- CC-Link IE Field Basic (devices only)
- OpenModbus/TCP
- Varan (devices only)
Switching to the desired protocol is possible via the loadable firmware from Hilscher. This is included in the scope of delivery. Hilscher also offers protocol stacks for control and device applications.
The variety of protocols ensures that the Simatic IPC can adapt to the communication requirements of different market segments and regions of the world, for example Ethernet-IP in the USA or Korea or Modbus in India. In addition, users can rely on the fact that specific network requirements of different devices, machines and systems in the global automation market are reliably met.
The M.2 bundles for immediate integration, for example in Simatic IPC227G and IPC BX-39A, are available from Hilscher.
