BenchmarkUSA most attractive as a production location
Companies looking for a new production location should opt for the USA. At least that is the conclusion of the current study 'Benchmark international production locations' by the Ulm-based consulting firm Ingenics.

According to the authors of the study, Germany shows deficits in almost all location categories and thus had to relinquish its first place in the overall ranking of top production locations to the USA. Nevertheless, as in the previous survey, Germany came first in two of the seven categories: Germany's good infrastructure in the form of road and rail networks is highly valued, as is the high number of first-class suppliers. In the 'human capital' category, Germany was even able to record an increase and move up three places. Ingenics attributes this to the rising quality of education and the steady increase in the availability of educational measures and training: "Although technical education in Germany is already at a very high level, it continues to improve with each passing year. Nevertheless, the relatively high labor costs act as a deterrent for many companies and have a negative impact on the production factor," the study states.
