Global mechanical engineering market / StudyDigitalization brings highs
The digital transformation is creating a special boom in the global mechanical engineering industry - this is the conclusion of the 'Industrial Goods Study 2018'. However, machine and plant manufacturers have some catching up to do when it comes to digitalizing their manufacturing processes.
As part of the study, the consulting firm AlixPartners analyzed the turnover and profitability of almost 1,200 companies and developed a "heat map" from this. The results show that the upturn in market development is spread across almost all regions and segments. In Germany, the areas of large electrical machinery (sales +5%), construction machinery and equipment (+4%), construction products (+3%) and industrial machinery (+2%) saw growth.
