Global mechanical engineering market / StudyDigitalization brings highs
The digital transformation is creating a special boom in the global mechanical engineering industry - this is the conclusion of the 'Industrial Goods Study 2018'. However, machine and plant manufacturers have some catching up to do when it comes to digitalizing their manufacturing processes.

It is already clear that the digital transformation is helping companies to cut costs and open up new sales opportunities. More than 80% of European companies report positive effects and an improved strategic positioning. Over half see concrete improvements in turnover and productivity. In terms of innovation, most are already on a successful path. However, the speed of implementation can still be increased, according to the consulting firm AlixPartners - for example through the greater use of collaborative approaches and a function such as a Chief Digital Officer, who defines the transformation goals and drives forward measures in a bundled manner.
