Connecting CAN and CAN FD networks via bridge
esd electronics has equipped the 'CAN-CBX-Bridge-FD' with CAN FD functionality. The CAN-Bridge enables the simple integration of CAN Classic devices into CAN FD networks, including the conversion of baud rate or extended frame format.
The CAN FD interfaces are fully downward compatible, so that they can also be used in pure CAN Classic applications. The bridge from esd electronics offers a serial interface for configuration, which can be used without any further programming knowledge. The CAN messages transmitted between the networks can be individually filtered according to IDs or frame types. Conversion between different baud rates is also possible. To protect the individual networks and reduce the risk of earth loops, the networks are electrically isolated from each other. The rotary switch can be used to select self-created configurations, which have been preset and saved via the serial configuration interface, with filters and baud rates.
