In the construction of mechanical parts such as machines and vehicles, lightweight components are required that have high strength despite their low weight. The aim of using these light metal or plastic-based components is to save material and reduce vehicle consumption, for example. When developing lightweight components, developers are increasingly looking to models from nature, whose structural principles are transferred to technical applications. The company CellCore offers specially developed software as a plug-in for CAD systems based on bionic algorithms for the design and creation of such constructions. The components are optimized in terms of weight, vibration damping and thermal insulation. The start-up receives one of the six main prizes of 32,000 euros each.
