Compared to 2013, random external influences (e.g. untargeted emails with viruses, WannaCry, phishing) were primarily responsible for security incidents for the first time (47%). Medium-sized companies in particular (251 to 1,000 employees) have been heavily affected in the past two years. This was followed by "internal perpetrators" with 38% and targeted external influences with 26%.
