Service robotics has developed into a rapidly growing and highly dynamic market in recent years. Today, technology companies such as Google, retailers such as Amazon and countries and alliances of states such as the European Union are investing billions in the development and expansion of service robotics. The latest forecasts from the International Federation of Robotics Associations (IFR) expect over 150,000 new service robots in professional use and around 35 million new service robots in private use between 2015 and 2018.
