News from the security sector

The SecurityBridge from Pilz protects the configurable, safe small controllers "PNOZmulti" and the automation system "PSS 4000" against network-based attacks and unauthorized access. According to the provider, machines and plants are therefore not only 'safe', but also 'secure'. With the "SecurityBridge", the company is expanding its product range to include industrial security. The device protects the connections between the programming or configuration tools and the hardware controllers against manipulation, for example by detecting unauthorized changes to the automation project. In doing so, it acts like a firewall. Unlike generic firewalls, however, the "SecurityBridge" does not need to be configured and can be easily put into operation thanks to application-specific presettings based on the plug-and-play principle. Only necessary data - authorized configuration and process data - is transmitted.
