The sensors in the MXW/MXI series from Waycon Positionsmesstechnik can detect measuring ranges of up to 100 m. The magnetic measuring system consists of a magnetic tape attached to a mounting surface and a digital read head. This glides over the tape without contact and therefore without wear. According to the manufacturer, the insensitivity to chips, splinters and even dust represents significant added value compared to optical systems. The variable mounting distance between the magnetic tape and sensor can be up to 2 mm to ensure the flexibility of the read head despite the presence of particles in between. Sensors in the series work with resolutions of 1000 µm or 2000 µm and have a sine-cosine 1 Vpp real-time output. The various read heads in the series are designed to impress with very high resolutions between 0.5 µm and 50 µm and output an HTL or TTL signal. The output can then be routed to a controller or position display in order to process or visualize the measurements. Magnetic tape sensors from Waycon have protection class IP67.
